Google Local Services Ads Setup for Landscaping Companies: What We Tightened First

By Alex Regueiro · October 25, 2026 · 5 min read

A landscaping company that wants better leads from Google Local Services Ads has to get the account basics right before the busy season starts. This one needed its business profile tightened, its billing details corrected, and its reviews and video lined up behind the listing.

The call was with the owner of a landscaping and hardscape company. We went through the Local Services set-up first, then mapped how reviews, custom GPT prompts and office-shot videos would work together to bring in higher-quality leads. If you run one of the many home service businesses that depend on local search, the same checklist applies.

The situation

The purpose of the session was to get the Google Local Services set-up dialed in for the season ahead. What it needed was a cleaner account and a few supporting assets so that the calls coming in were the right kind of calls.

We treated it as one connected problem and not four separate tasks. A profile, a review push, a set of videos and a tested AI prompt can each be done alone. They work better when they are planned together.

What needed fixing

The first issue was the account itself. The business profile settings and billing information were tied to a staff member's email address instead of a company address, and the office manager was not yet on the account where needed.

Two supporting pieces were also open. The company wanted a push for more reviews, and it wanted a set of scripted videos, one for each service page, that could be reused on landing pages and in future ads.

What we did

We worked through the set-up and left the owner with four tasks, each due within a few days.

  • Profile and billing: update the Google business profile settings and billing information, replace the staff member's email with the company address, and add the office manager where needed.
  • Review request: we wrote and emailed the Facebook post copy for a bulk review request, for the owner to post to local business connections and friends.
  • Prompt testing: schedule a working session with the estimator to test the company's custom GPT prompts and record every correction, so accuracy can be tightened.
  • Scripted office videos: coordinate with the estimator and the office manager to film one scripted video per service page, to feed landing pages and later ads.

What changed

No lead or call numbers were reported. The change is in how the account is set up and who can reach it. The profile and billing are set to point at a company address and not at one person's inbox, and the office manager is to be added to the account.

The review request, the prompt tests and the video shoot were each given an owner and a date within the same week, so the listing, the reviews and the landing-page content could move together.

A ten-minute check of your own Local Services account

This section is advice for your own account, not a claim about the client. Open your business profile and billing settings and read the email address on each. If it belongs to one employee, change it to a company address and add the person who handles incoming leads.

If you ask for reviews, ask people who actually used your service. Platforms can remove reviews that do not reflect a real experience, and a short, specific request gets better answers than a general plea.

Frequently asked questions

What should I check first in a Google Local Services Ads setup?

Start with the email addresses and people attached to the business profile and billing. On this account a staff member's email was replaced with a company address and the office manager was added, so the account no longer depends on one person.

How should a contractor ask for reviews in bulk?

Here we wrote a short Facebook post asking the owner's network for reviews. Our advice is to ask people who actually used the service, since reviews should reflect a real experience, and to make the link to leave one easy to find.

Why film a video for each service page?

The plan was one scripted video per service page, reusable on landing pages and in later ads. One shoot then feeds several places, and each page speaks to one service instead of trying to cover everything the company does.

Why test custom GPT prompts with the crew?

Testing with the people who quote jobs shows where the answers drift from real prices and real practice. We asked for a working session and a log of every correction, so each fix could be written back into the prompts.
