Instagram DM Ads for Salon Suite Leasing: Keep Lead Quality and Give the Partner a Dashboard

By Alex Regueiro · October 25, 2026 · 5 min read

A salon suite partner was paying for ads he could not see. He could not check the spend or read the message conversations on his own, and the login code he needed had not arrived. Every question about the campaign had to go through the agency or the location manager.

The client is a partner in a multi-location salon suite franchise, and this was one location. We launched Instagram click-to-message ads and walked him through the dashboard on a screen share. For home service businesses that lease space, the useful idea is simple: do not rebuild what is producing good leads just to make the tooling look standard.

The situation

For about two weeks before this call, the partner had told us that lead quality was better on the ads running through Instagram. That report mattered more than any dashboard figure, because quality is the one thing the ad numbers do not show.

The obvious next step would have been to rebuild the same campaign in Meta Ads Manager. We chose not to. We could not recreate the exact targeting that was working, and we did not want to trade better leads for tidier tooling.

What was broken

Two things stood in the way of a clean handoff.

  • No independent visibility. The partner could not see active ads, spend or the cost of each conversation without asking someone. The Instagram login for the location was not finished, because the verification code had not reached him.
  • A split in the tracking. The new campaign was not yet connected to the shared tracker the team uses every day, so its numbers lived in a different place from everything else.

What we built

We launched first and explained second, because it is easier to walk someone through something that exists than to build a campaign from scratch on a call.

  • Instagram click-to-message ads for the location, where the call to action opens a direct message conversation.
  • A dashboard walk-through covering what is live, how much has been spent and the cost for each messaging conversation started.
  • A plan to tie the campaign numbers into the shared daily report that week, so ads and pipeline sit in one view.
  • A next step for the partner: ask the team whether anyone received the verification code, so he can finish logging in and check the numbers himself.

What changed

The result we can state is the reported one. The partner said lead quality had been better for about two weeks on the ads already running through Instagram, and that is why we kept running them there instead of rebuilding them. The new click-to-message ads launched that day, so we have no performance figures for them yet.

What changed in the system is access. Once the login is complete, the partner can open the dashboard and see spend, active ads and cost per conversation without asking anyone. We also treat his account access as insurance. If something happens to the account the agency uses, the business still has a way in.

Give your own owner a view, this week

This section is advice for your own business, not a description of the client's setup. Check who receives the login codes for each ad and social account. If it is one person's phone, add a second owner as a backup.

Then pick the three numbers an owner should see without asking: what is running, what has been spent and what each conversation or lead costs. Put them where he already looks.

Frequently asked questions

What are Instagram DM ads?

They are ads whose call to action opens a direct message conversation instead of a form or a website. The metric to watch is the cost for each messaging conversation started, which is visible on the dashboard we walked the partner through.

Why keep running ads through Instagram instead of rebuilding them in Ads Manager?

Because the partner reported better lead quality for about two weeks, and we could not recreate the exact targeting in Ads Manager. Keeping what worked mattered more than moving it to a tool that looks more standard.

Why does the owner need his own login to the ad account?

He can check spend, active ads and conversation cost without asking the agency or the manager. It also acts as insurance. If the agency's access is ever lost, the business still holds a way into its own account.

Has this campaign produced results?

Not yet in numbers we can share. The click-to-message ads launched on the day of the call. The only result stated is the partner's report of better lead quality on the ads that were already running.
