Meta Instant Forms vs Landing Page Surveys for Roofing Contractors
By Alex Regueiro · October 24, 2026 · 5 min read
The ad was getting clicks. The landing page was losing nearly all of them. On a multi-step survey page, the numbers showed a 99% drop-off past slide one, which means almost nobody got far enough to hand over a phone number.

That was the situation for the owner of a home-exteriors company that sells roofing, siding, and windows. The call summary named the problem plainly: a traffic-funnel mismatch, not a content problem. If you run Meta ads for a roofing business, the rebuild below may save you months. More on how we work with them is on our page for roofing contractors.
The situation
The company was sending cold Meta traffic to a landing page with a multi-step survey. Each slide asked one more question before the homeowner could request anything. People who had just scrolled past an ad on their phone were being asked to work through a quiz.
On top of that, the campaigns were fragmented. Budget was split across several campaigns and ad sets, so no single one had enough volume to learn from.
What was leaking
There were two leaks. The first was the funnel itself: the 99% drop-off past slide one meant the survey was filtering out nearly everyone, including people who were interested.
The second was the placements. Spend was leaking to Audience Network placements and to low-quality rewarded-video clicks, the kind of clicks that come from someone tapping to earn a reward in an app rather than someone looking for a new roof. Those clicks cost money and produce no estimates.
What we built
We rebuilt the cold-traffic path around Meta Instant Forms and cleaned up the campaign structure around it.
- Cold traffic now goes to a Meta Instant Form with one question, a verified phone number through two-factor confirmation, and a direct call option.
- Landing-page funnels stay in place, but only for warm retargeting, where people already know the company.
- One new campaign with one ad set and 8-12 creatives replaced the fragmented setup, so budget and learning sit in one place.
- Audience Network came out of the placements. The focus moved to Feeds, Reels, and Stories.
- Instant Form leads flow into GoHighLevel and can be tracked by ad name and form name.
- UTM tags through Tag Manager and Analytics handle source attribution.
- Ads Manager CSV exports now run through a custom GPT for audits and creative feedback.
- A testimonial video day was scripted so the creative pool has fresh proof to rotate in.
What changed
The call summary recorded Instant Forms as proven at 8-15% completion against 0% from the previous surveys. That was the stated reason to double down on them for cold traffic.
Just as important, the account now answers questions it could not answer before. A lead in GoHighLevel shows which ad and which form it came from. Audience Network is out of the placements, and the creative feedback loop now runs on exported Ads Manager data.
What to take from this
Match the format to how warm the traffic is. A person who has never heard of you will fill in one question and a phone number far more readily than they will complete a five-slide quiz. A person who already knows you will tolerate the longer path.
Then look at where the money actually lands. Open your placement breakdown and check how much spend goes to Audience Network and rewarded video. If the answer is a lot, the problem is not your offer.
Frequently asked questions
Should roofing contractors use Meta Instant Forms or landing pages?
For cold traffic in this account, Instant Forms won, with one question, a verified phone number, and a call option. The landing page stayed for warm retargeting only. That is one account's result, so test with your own numbers before you move everything.
What is Audience Network and why remove it?
Audience Network shows your ads inside third-party apps and sites, outside Meta's own feeds. In this account, spend leaked there and into low-quality rewarded-video clicks. We removed it and kept Feeds, Reels, and Stories.
How many creatives should one campaign run?
In this rebuild, one campaign with one ad set and 8-12 creatives. The idea is to keep budget and learning in one place instead of splitting them across fragmented campaigns, then rotate new creative in as you learn what homeowners respond to.
How do you know which ad produced a lead?
Instant Form leads flow into GoHighLevel and carry the ad name and the form name. UTM tags set up through Tag Manager and Analytics add source attribution. That lets the owner connect each estimate request back to a specific ad.
