Meta Lead Ads Reset Across Multiple Markets: Creative, Geo and Audience Settings

By Alex Regueiro · October 25, 2026 · 5 min read

Lead ads that run across several markets for months collect clutter: stale campaigns, creative nobody remembers approving, and audience settings that have drifted. For one suite-rental operator with locations in several markets, results had become uneven enough that we agreed to reset the account.

The operator rents suites to independent beauty professionals, and every market needs its own local lead flow. The reset below applies to anyone running Meta ads for home service businesses or other local operators across more than one service area. We report no results yet, because the rebuilt campaigns were still due for review.

The situation

Meta lead ads were running in every market, and they were not performing the same way or well enough. On a call with the owner, three problems surfaced together.

The lead ads were under-performing across the markets and needed a reset. A booking had come in through one market's form from a profile with no real information, which looked like a bot lead. And there was a question about whether the business category was eligible for Google Ads, even though spend was already running there.

What was broken

Four things stood out in the account.

  • Stale campaigns were still in the account next to the current ones.
  • A suspected bot had made it onto the calendar, which puts a fake appointment in front of the team.
  • Google Ads spend was judged irresponsible while the category question was unresolved.
  • The phone menu on inbound calls (an IVR step) had been confirmed working in only one market.

What we built

We chose a full reset over market-by-market tweaks.

  • We archived the stale campaigns and set the rebuild to exactly two high-quality creatives per market.
  • We tightened the geo-targeting for each market.
  • We turned Advantage+ audience expansion off, so the targeting we set stays the targeting that runs.
  • We asked the owner for market-specific photos and videos of each location's suites, since the rebuild needed approved creative for each location.
  • We paused Google Ads until the business category is confirmed.
  • We deleted the suspected bot appointment and canceled it.
  • We set up a field test of the phone menu, with the team to report which locations ring correctly after the changes.

What changed

The rebuilt campaigns were due for review at the next midweek session, so there are no performance numbers to share.

What changed is the baseline. Before, the account held stale campaigns alongside current ones, and search spend was running on an unconfirmed category. After, each market has a small, repeatable setup, with two creatives, tight geo-targeting and no audience expansion, that is easy to compare against the others. Still open at the time: whether the new structure improves lead quality, the Google category check, and phone routing in the markets not yet confirmed.

Run this reset checklist on your own account

This section is advice for your account. Count how many creatives each market runs and whether anyone can say why. Check the geographic area on each ad set against the area you can actually serve. Look at the audience expansion toggle. Then open your lead list and look for profiles with no real information before they take up calendar time.

Finally, call your own phone menu from outside. If a lead reaches your ad but not your phone, the best creative in the world does not matter.

Frequently asked questions

How many creatives should each market run in Meta?

We set this account's rebuild to exactly two per market. Fewer creatives per market means each one gets enough delivery to judge, and the markets are easy to compare. It is the structure we chose for this operator, not a rule, and we have no results yet.

What is Advantage+ audience expansion and why turn it off?

It lets Meta show your ads beyond the audience you defined when it expects better results. For a business whose markets are local, turning it off keeps the targeting you set from drifting. We turned it off in this account alongside tighter geo-targeting.

How do you handle a suspected bot lead?

In this account a booking came through a market's form from a profile with no real information. We deleted the appointment and canceled it. Check for real profile details before a suspected lead takes a calendar slot, and keep your own notes on what the fake ones look like.

Why pause Google Ads during a category question?

Spend was judged irresponsible while it was unclear that the business category was eligible. We paused it until the category check clears. Results from traffic you may not be allowed to buy are hard to trust, so we waited for the answer first.
