Wrong Address in Performance Max Ads: Fixing Location Groups for Multi-Location Businesses
By Alex Regueiro · October 25, 2026 · 5 min read
Before a Performance Max campaign went live, its ad previews showed another market's street address. A prospect who saw the ad would have been pointed at the wrong location.

The client is the owner of a salon suite rental company with locations in several markets. We found the problem in the previews and fixed it in a session with Google's team. If you run one of the home service businesses with more than one location under one Google business account, check your previews before you enable anything.
The situation
The business was finishing a Performance Max campaign for one of its markets. The campaign pulls the business address from the locations connected to the Google business account. In this case, several locations were connected through the same account.
We reviewed the campaign with a Google representative before enabling it. The previews were the first place the problem showed.
A multi-location account makes this easy to miss, because each location looks right on its own. The mix-up shows up in the previews. A settings screen will not tell you what a customer is about to see.
What was broken
Two things were wrong, and both would have been visible to the public.
- The previews populated another market's address, because multiple locations were attached to one business profile account.
- The logo size was off in the previews.
What we built
We worked through the list in the session, in this order.
- We fixed the location group so only the correct address appears in the ads.
- We replaced the logo and upscaled it using AI upscaling from the original source file.
- We uploaded additional video creatives to give the campaign more to work with.
- We planned to enable the campaign the next day, once the previews were right.
- We asked the Google representative to send the exact image and logo specifications, so future uploads pass review the first time.
- We set a review schedule: the channel report one week after launch, and a follow-up session booked for two weeks out.
What changed
The campaign was not yet enabled when the session ended, so we have no performance results. What changed is that the location group now points to the right address and the logo has been replaced, so the campaign can go live as planned. A last check of the address linkage was still on the list, and the next reviews are scheduled.
The review schedule matters as much as the fix. A new campaign needs a look at how traffic is spread across channels after a week, and a second look before anyone changes the setup.
Check your previews before you enable anything
This is advice for your own campaigns, not a fact about the client. Open the ad previews and read every field a customer would see: address, phone number, logo, images, headline. If you run several locations, check which locations are connected to the account and which ones the campaign is allowed to use.
Keep the original logo file so you can upscale from the source, not from a small copy. Ask for the platform's current image and logo sizes in writing. A rejected asset on launch day costs you a day.
Finally, write down who checks the previews and who approves them. That way the check does not get skipped on launch day.
Frequently asked questions
Why would the wrong address show in Performance Max ads?
When several locations are connected through one Google business account, a campaign can draw address details from any of them unless the location group is set correctly. In this case the preview showed another market's address. Correcting the location group fixed it.
What is a location group?
It is the set of business locations a campaign can use for address details and location extensions. If the group contains locations you did not intend, your ads may show their addresses. Check the group before you enable the campaign.
How do you fix a logo that is the wrong size?
We replaced the file and upscaled it from the original source file with AI upscaling. We also asked the Google representative to send exact image and logo specifications, so the next upload fits the first time.
When should you review a new campaign?
Our plan was to review the channel report one week after launch and to book a follow-up session two weeks out. The first week shows where the campaign is spending. The follow-up checks whether anything should change.
If you manage ads for more than one location and want a second pair of eyes before launch, book a 30-minute AI follow-up and reporting audit. We review the setup, the previews and the follow-up path behind each location.
